YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The University of North Georgia scored three runs in the top of the 10th inning to rally for a 10-7 Peach Belt Conference baseball victory over Young Harris College Saturday (April 2) aftenoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Nighthawks improved to 22-11 overall and to 9-5 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 21-11 and 8-6. The series finale between Blood Mountain rivals is 1 p.m. Sunday (April 3).
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Young Harris sent the game into extra innings for the second consecutive day as they scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game at 7. Mark Castle had a two-run double to left and pinch runner Aaron Copeland knotted the game up by scoring on a wild pitch.
- The Mountain Lions took a 1-0 lead on a wild pitch in the second inning, before Rome Wallace's RBI single in the third.
- After North Georgia tied the game at 2 in the top of the fourth, the Mountain Lions got back-to-back singles by Noah Fitzgerald and Jackson Jones in the bottom half of the inning to reclaim the lead.
- Castle had four of the 11 Mountain Lion hits, while Fitzgerald had three.
- Ryan Inches (0-1) took the loss in relief.
