GREENWOOD, S.C. | Lander University took control of its Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse match against Young Harris College in the second and third quarters as the Bearcats won 19-9 over the Mountain Lions Tuesday (April 19) afternoon at Van Taylor Stadium.
The Bearcats improved to 9-7 overall and to 2-3 in the GSC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 7-9 and 2-3. Young Harris closes out its regular season with a 3 p.m. GSC match at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field against the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Bearcats outscored the Mountain Lions 11-2 over the second and third quarters, including a 4-0 margin in the second period.
- Taylor Greenberg led Young Harris with five goals, while Ashlyn Fraley, Belle Hardwick had two each.
- Hardwick also recorded four assists, while Kinsley Purser and Morgan Lewis had one apiece.
- Lander held 35-22 edge in shots and 27-14 in ground balls, while the Mountain Lions held a 19-12 advantage in draw controls.
- Ella Hancock led the with seven draw controls, while Purser had four and Greenberg added three more.
- Hancock scooped up four ground balls, while Eryn Brown had two.
- Hancock tallied three caused turnovers.
- Rachel Robb had seven saves in goal for the Mountain Lions, while Maddy Meyers had two.
