YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The University of Alabama in Huntsville used a strong second quarter to defeat Young Harris College 19-7 in a Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse match Saturday (April 23) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Chargers wrapped up the GSC regular-season title with a 9-6 overall record and a 6-0 mark in the GSC, while the Mountain Lions wrapped up their season at 7-10 and 2-4.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Young Harris took an early 2-0 lead on back-to-back goals from Ruthie Mandell. The first strike was a man-down goal.
- UAH scored the next three goals - all by Cara Brown - to take a 3-2 lead.
- The Chargers took a 5-4 lead with 19 seconds left in the first quarter, before they took control of the match as they outscored the Mountain Lions 10-1 in the second quarter.
- YHC senior goalie Rachel Robb recorded 10 saves between the pipes to bring her career total to 401 saves, surpassing the program record of 396 held by Julia Darroch.
- Taylor Greenberg, Ashlyn Fraley and Mandell each scored twice for the Mountain Lions, while Morgan Lewis had one.
- Belle Hardwick had two assists, while Kinsley Purser and Parker Vaughan had one.
- Greenberg and Purser each had three draw controls.
- Robb added three ground balls, while Greenberg and Suzanne Moore had two each.
