YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College baseball team split their Peach Belt Conference doubleheader against the University of South Carolina-Aiken Saturday (April 16) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
Young Harris won game one 13-4 to clinch the series, and fell 4-2 in game two.
The Mountain Lions improved to 28-13 overall and 13-8 in the Peach Belt, while the Pacers fell to 18-22 and 10-11.YHC returns to action Monday (April 18) with a 3 p.m. first pitch at home against Carson-Newman University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
GAME ONE
- Ethan Underwood, Rome Wallace, Jackson Jones, and Steven Spell each homered in the win.
- Kyle Ayers led the Mountain Lions with three hits; Logan Worley, Underwood, and Spell each drove two apiece, while Noah Fitzgerald, Wallace, and Jones connected on one.
- Ayers and Jones led the YHC offense with three RBI, Underwood and Spell totaled two, and Worley, Fitzgerald, and Wallace all had one.
- Nate Lamb (5-3) recorded the win for YHC. Lamb pitched six innings, scattered seven hits, and struck out six batters.
GAME TWO
- Ayers recorded the two Mountain Lions runs with a homer to left-center in the third that scored Spell.
- Worley led YHC with two hits and Fitzgerald, Aaron Copeland, Spell, and Ayers each connected on one.
- Dylan Beck (4-1) got the loss for YHC.
- McLain Harris pitched four innings of relief and allowed no earned runs from the Pacer offense.
