YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Three-run homers from
Noah Fitzgerald and
Rome Wallace helped the Young Harris College baseball team to a 12-6 non-conference victory over Mars Hill University Tuesday (March 22) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 19-7, while the Lions fell to 11-16. Young Harris returns to Peach Belt Conference action Friday (March 25) with a 6 p.m. contest against No. 2-ranked Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Fitzgerald's three-run blast to left field tied the game at 4 in the bottom of the third inning. It was Fitzgerald's fourth long ball of 2022.
- Wallace's three-run shot in right-center field in the fifth gave the Mountain Lions the lead for good at 7-5. It was Wallace's third of the season.
- Young Harris took advantage of five walks by MHU pitchers in the eighth inning to break the game open and scored four runs on just one hit.
- Wallace and Kyle Ayers led the way with three hits each for the Mountain Lions, while Fitzgerald had two.Â
- Fitzgerald drove in five runs for YHC, while Wallace had four RBI.
- Brody Meeks (3-0) earned the win in relief. He struck out four in 2.1 innings.
- McLain Harris earned his fourth save as he pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three.
