ROME, Ga. | Four Mountain Lions scored three goals each as the Young Harris College women's lacrosse team picked up a 20-8 Gulf South Conference win Wednesday (March 2) against Shorter University at Ben Braley Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 3-6 overall and to 1-0 inside the Gulf South, while the Hawks fell to 1-5 and 0-1. Young Harris returns to action Wednesday (March 9) with a 4 p.m. contest against Erskine College in Due West, South Carolina.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Taylor Greenberg, Kinsley Purser, Morgan Lewis and Ruthie Mandell each scored three goals.
- Ella Hancock, Emily Flynt, Ashlyn Fraley and Ally Cattoni each scored twice.
- Hancock, Mandell, Purser, Parker Vaughan had two assists, while Greenberg and Lewis had one apiece.
- Maddy Meyers (6), Rachel Robb (4) and Abbie Gallagher (0) combined for 10 saves in net for Young Harris.
- Eryn Brown led YHC with three ground balls,while Hancock scooped up two.
- Hancock had five draw controls, while Greenberg had two.
- After the Hawks pulled to within a goal at 7-6 midway through the second quarter, Flynt scored a man-down goal for the Mountain Lions with 3:58 left before halftime. That was the first of eighth unanswered goals for the Mountain Lions as they took control of the match.
- The Mountain Lion lead was two goals (6-8) in the 2nd, but a Flynt goal with 3:58 on the clock started a rally of seven unanswered goals.
