YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Murphy McDonough and Sallie Squire combined to score 13 goals as Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University recorded a 21-10 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Young Harris College Sunday (Feb. 19) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Eagles improved to 2-0, while the Mountain Lions fell to 1-5. Young Harris will next face Wingate University Friday (Feb. 25) at 4 p.m. in Wingate, North Carolina.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions and Eagles traded leads back and forth over the opening 20 minutes. Ella Hancock's goal off a Taylor Greenberg assist at 4 with 13:17 left in the second quarter.
- Embry-Riddle took control of the match by scoring the next six goals - three by McDonough - to open up a 10-4 lead on a Squire free-position shot with 13:19 left in the third quarter. The closest the Mountain Lions would get the remainder of the match was five goals.
- Greenberg and Kinsley Purser led the Mountain Lions with three goals apiece, while Hancock had two. Emily Flynt and Ally Cattoni had a goal each.
- Greenberg had two assists, while Purser and Hancock had a goal.
- Hancock had nine draw controls, while Purser registered three.
- Purser collected three ground balls, while Hancock and Rachel Robb had two each.
- Robb had 13 saves in the YHC goal.
