Young Harris finishes in fourth place at the Bobcat Invitational

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's cross country team finished in fourth place at the Bobcat Invitational Saturday (Oct. 9) morning. 

The Mountain Lions return to action Saturday (Oct. 16) with a 9 a.m. race at the Berry College Invitational on the Berry College Clara Bowl Cross Country Course in Mount Berry, Georgia. 

INSIDE THE MEET RESULTS:
  • Young Harris finished fourth out of nine teams in the 8K race at the Bobcat Invitational with 116 points.
  • Columbus State University won the race with 27 points, while Georgia College (50) placed second, and the University of West Georgia (56) finished third. 
  • Luke Surowiec was the top YHC runner with a season-best time of 28:58.6 and finished in 27th place.
  • Thomas Mellendorf came in second for the Mountain Lions with a season-best time of 28:59.4 and came in 28th, while Liam King finished 29th, running a 29:11.1 time. 
  • Kai Vigardt finsihed in 31st place with a time of 29:19.1. Jack Rush finished 33rd with a time of 29:45.1, while Hunter Payne finished with a time of 30:00.2, good for 35th place. 
  • The final YHC runners were Hayden Durrett (43rd) finished the course in 31:10.0 and Austin Sever (48th) with a time of 31:56.9.
