Mountain Lions finish ninth at Berry Invitational

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's cross country team placed ninth at the Berry College Invitational Saturday (Oct. 16) morning. 

The Mountain Lions return to action Saturday (Oct. 23) morning at the Peach Belt Conference Championship in Fairburn, Georgia. 
 
INSIDE THE MEET RESULTS:
  • Young Harris finished ninth out of 16 teams in the 8K race on the Berry College Clara Bowl Cross Country Course with a score of 258. 
  • Georgia Tech finished in first place with 42 points,  five points ahead of Berry College.
  • Kai Vigardt was the top YHC runner finishing in 49th place with a time of 28:34.9.
  • Luke Surowiec came in 74th after running a 29:30.8, followed by Jack Rush in 75th place after a 29:32.3 time. 
  • Hunter Payne finished in 83rd place (29:47.3), followed by Hayden Durrett in 85th (29:51.7) and Thomas Mellendorf in 86th (29:54.5). 
  • The final YHC runners were Liam King (30:45.9) and Austin Sever (32:32.9). King finished in 102nd place while Sever came in 135th
