YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's lacrosse team fell 19-4 to the No. 1 ranked Flagler Saints on Thursday (Apr. 2) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Saints, who improved to 14-0 overall, jumped out early and never looked back, scoring eight goals in the opening quarter and carrying an 13-1 lead into halftime.
Flagler's offensive depth proved to be the difference, as 10 different players found the back of the net, led by Carley Tepel's four goals and a six-point performance from Jessica Wright, who totaled three goals and three assists.
Young Harris (8-5, 6-0 CC) got on the board midway through the first quarter on an unassisted goal from Addison Heiser, but the Mountain Lions were limited to just three shots in the opening half.
Heiser led the Mountain Lions offensively with three goals and an assist, accounting for four of the team's six points. Erika Baalam added a goal, while Riley Parker contributed an assist.
The Mountain Lions showed fight in the fourth quarter, scoring three times, including a goal from Heiser off a Parker assist and a late score from Baalam assisted by Heiser.
Defensively, Young Harris recorded 13 saves, with Alyssa Rosenfeld posting eight and McKenna Graf adding five.
Flagler held a 43-8 advantage in shots and a 16-9 edge in draw controls, while also forcing 28 Young Harris turnovers.
