Mountain Lions Sweep Roar War Doubleheader at Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA| The Mountain Lions softball team traveled to the home of Emmanuel University today (April 2nd) for a Conference Carolinas Roar War doubleheader. YH would come home with the sweep, taking both games on the day from Emmanuel. Shelby Duncan led the high-powered Young Harris offense with six RBI's and three homeruns on the day.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

Game One: Mountain Lions take down the Lions 10-2

· Gracie Hughes got the bats rolling in the first inning with a two-run homerun to take an early 2-0 lead.

· Shelby Duncan would get the third inning started with a solo homerun before an Anna Kate Hill walk and an RBI from Shayla Pennington gave YH a 5-1 lead heading to the fourth inning.

· The Mountain Lions added on in the fourth inning with Shelby Duncan launching a two-run homerun and Shayla Pennington finding the gap for an RBI double.

· Emmanuel would add a run in the fifth inning before Shelby Duncan scored on a wild pitch, and Gracie Hughes brought home Hannah Davis to take a 10-2 lead in the seventh inning.

· Lilly Jones shined on the mound for the Mountain Lions, throwing a complete game and only surrendering four hits and two runs to take home the victory.

Game Two: Young Harris defeats Emmanuel 10-0 (5 innings)

· The Mountain Lion offense would get rolling in the third inning with Bailee Brown bringing home Shayla Pennington on an RBI groundout before Shelby Duncan hit her third big fly of the day to score Maddy Brady and give YH a 3-0 lead.

· Later in the inning, Mallory Clark hit an RBI single, and Anna Kate Hill roped an RBI double before Mallory Clark would cross home on an error to take a 6-0 lead into the fourth inning.

· Shelby Duncan got the fourth inning started with an RBI single before Mallory Clark brought home two Mountain Lion baserunners and Mackenzie Thompson scored on a wild pitch to give Young Harris a 10-0 lead.

· Julia Moore was dominant on the mound in game two, only surrendering one hit and striking out six for the five-inning complete game.

UP NEXT: The Mountain Lions will return home next Friday (April 10th) when they host Conference Carolinas opponent Shorter University for a doubleheader.
