MONTEVALLO, Ala. | The Young Harris College men's lacrosse team fell on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping a 15-5 decision to Montevallo.
The Falcons jumped out quickly, scoring five goals in the opening quarter to take early control. Gunnar Fagerstrom got the Mountain Lions on the board midway through the first period off an assist from Noah Elam, but Montevallo carried a 5-1 lead into the second quarter.
Young Harris trimmed the deficit in the second when John McElhenny scored unassisted, making it 5-2 before Montevallo added two late goals to take a 7-2 lead into halftime.
The Mountain Lions found momentum early in the third quarter as Colburn Connelly finished a feed from McElhenny to pull Young Harris within four at 7-3. After Montevallo responded with three straight goals, Indiana Crawford answered with an unassisted strike to keep the Mountain Lions within reach heading into the final period.
Connelly added his second goal of the game early in the fourth quarter off an assist from Cason Diamond to cut the deficit to 10-5, but Montevallo closed the game with five consecutive goals to secure the win.
