YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Young Harris went toe-to-toe with a 5-1 Coker squad Saturday afternoon, rallying late and nearly forcing overtime before falling 13-12 at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
After trailing 10-4 early in the third quarter, the Mountain Lions clawed back with an 8-3 run over the final 22 minutes. Kyren Fields cut the deficit to one with 4:28 remaining, and Young Harris had possession late with a chance to tie it up, but the Cobras held on down the stretch.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
• Mathias Clark paced Young Harris with three goals on five shots.
• Christopher Redding scored twice, including a fourth-quarter extra-man goal.
• Noah Cosby and Colburn Connelly each finished with two goals, with Connelly also cashing in on a man-up opportunity.
• Grady Stokes fueled the comeback with five assists and five ground balls.
• Kyren Fields posted a goal and an assist, scoring with 4:28 left to make it 13-12.
• John McElhenny and Gunnar Fagerstrom each added one goal.
• Jonah Polhemus played all 60 minutes in goal and recorded an impressive 14 saves.
• Young Harris went a perfect 2-for-2 on extra-man chances and outscored Coker 5-3 in the fourth quarter.
• The Mountain Lions finished with 26 on clears and forced 27 Coker turnovers.
