GREENWOOD, S.C. | The Young Harris College men's lacrosse team fell on the road Friday night (Feb. 20), dropping a 21–8 decision to Lander.
The Mountain Lions showed early fight, trading goals in the opening quarter and staying within reach through portions of the first half. However, a large second and third quarter surge from the Bearcats created separation as Lander remained unbeaten on the season.
Young Harris received balanced scoring production with five different goal scorers, highlighted by multi-goal performances from Grady Stokes, Knox Holston, and Mathias Clark. The Mountain Lions continued to compete throughout the second half, but Lander's offensive run proved difficult to slow.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
• Grady Stokes scored two goals, including the late fourth-quarter finish, and added an assist.
• Knox Holston recorded two goals for the Mountain Lions.
• Mathias Clark finished with two goals, including a third-quarter score assisted by Stokes.
• John McElhenny opened the scoring for Young Harris and later added an assist.
• Gunnar Fagerstrom contributed one goal in the second quarter.
• Young Harris scored in every quarter and finished with five different goal scorers.
