YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College Men's Soccer team continues to make national noise, earning the No. 14 spot in the latest United Soccer Coaches national rankings. The Mountain Lions are off to a dominant start in 2025, boasting a 5-0-1 record through six matches and riding a five-game winning streak. YH also jumped the Southeast rankings all the way up to number two.
The streak includes a key non-conference win over rival North Georgia (The Battle of Blood Mountain) and four consecutive victories in Conference Carolinas play (including a Roar War victory over Emmanuel), solidifying Young Harris as one of the top programs in the country.
Junior midfielder Thomas Kleinpenning has led the offensive charge, tallying seven goals and two assists in just six matches. His consistent production has been a driving force behind the Mountain Lions' early success; leading to a Conference Carolinas Player of the Week award.
Head Coach Dean Grey praised the team's focus and commitment to the long-term vision.
"We've started the season well and it's always satisfying to get the recognition for the work put in. It shows the progress and the pathway we're looking towards. The lads are focused on the big picture and know we need to use this to help us push on further, not to get complacent. Onto Saturday we go again."
Young Harris will look to build on its momentum this weekend as the Mountain Lions continue their pursuit of a Conference Carolinas title and a deep postseason run.
