Young Harris Caps Inaugural Outdoor Season with Breakout Performances at Conference Championships

4/27/2025 8:30:00 PM

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. | The Young Harris College track & field teams closed out their 2025 season with a strong showing at the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Championships held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina (Apr. 24-26). In the final event of the year, the Mountain Lions turned in multiple standout performances and continued to build momentum for the future of the program.

QUOTE FROM DIRECTOR OF TRACK & FIELD MATT LOGAN:

"We have a young [women's] group, and I am proud of the way we competed all season. Walraven making the final in the 800 and backing up her performance from the indoor season was special."

Coach Logan continues, "Really proud of our guys. Ryland continues to take on new challenges and has proven he can perform when the lights are brightest. He had 6/10 PB's and put together a great Dec. series. He's worked hard in the hurdles and it showed between indoor and outdoor. Xander had a great day and had a gritty last 1k to get the job done. I'm thrilled for Mason. He had a big breakthrough in the prelim to make the final and proved he can compete in fast and tactical races. Aidan went for it and almost got the win. He already has the respect of his coaches and teammates and gained the respect of his competitors. All three of our distance point scorers will give us a strong core as we look forward to next fall."
