SUMTER, S.C. | The Young Harris College men's tennis team battled the Patriots of Francis Marion University in the Conference Carolinas Tournament Quarterfinals Friday (Apr. 25) afternoon at the Palmetto Tennis Center. The Mountain Lions fought hard throughout doubles and singles play, pushing multiple matches to three sets, but ultimately fell 4-2 to FMU.

In doubles, Noah Pawirodirjo and Caleb McCurry battled on court two but fell 6-2, while Mason Harmon and Samuel Guzon dropped a 6-3 decision on court one. Gregor Gottein and Greyson Williams were leading 5-4 at No. 3 doubles before the match was left unfinished.

In singles action, freshman Noah Pawirodirjo delivered a gritty three-set win at No. 2 singles (6-1, 3-6, 7-5) to get the Mountain Lions on the board.

Samuel Guzon stayed locked in for YHC at the No. 5 slot, winning his match in straight sets (6-3, 6-4).

Mason Harmon and Greyson Williams each pushed their opponents at No. 1 and No. 3 singles respectively but came up just short in competitive straight-set battles.

Caleb McCurry forced a third set at No. 4 singles after taking the opening frame, but Francis Marion secured the final point to clinch the match.

Nills Vercruyssen was locked in a tight three-set battle at No. 6 singles when the match was called unfinished.
