Mountain Lions Split Double Header with Warriors

Central, SC | The Mountain Lions came out swinging in game one, clinching the win against Southern Wesleyan; however, the Warriors answered back in game two. During game one, three Mountain Lions hit home runs (Fielden, Avery (1); Hughes, Gracie (1); Ratzlaff, Riley (1)). Avery Fielden boosted YH to a 7-2 lead in the 4th inning, which sent Bailee Brown, Jordan Morris, and Grace Young home. The final scores of the double-header read 8-5 and 2-10.  of game 1 was 8-5.

Young Harris moves to 20-22 overall and are 11-11 in Conference Carolinas. The Warriors moved to 27-13 overall and 14-8 in Conference Carolinas. The Mountain Lions are at home this Wednesday (April 16th) facing off against the Erskine College Flying Fleet. These will be the last games of the regular season as they await post season seeding.  

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

Game 1  

  • Young Harris took game one with a final score of 8-5. 

  • Gracie Hughes was the first to put runs on the board, with a home run in the second inning. 

  • In the fourth inning, Young Harris took a massive lead, starting with Grace Young who singled up the middle and Jess Jaruszewski advancing to second. Maddy Brady was sent home to tie the game 2-2. 

  • Avery Fielden's home run brought in Brown, Morris, and Young to Score, now making the game 7-2.  

Game 2 

  • SWU took game two with a final score of 2-10

Young Harris will play their regular season finale games at home versus Erskine this Wednesday (Apr. 16) afternoon.
