CLEVELAND, TN | After a late blown lead in game one, the Mountain Lions originally let it carry over into game two but put up two crooked numbers in the middle of the second game to help them salvage the double header and leave Cleveland 1-1 on the day (Mar 26th). Young Harris scored a season high 14 runs en route to their 13
th victory of the season.Â
Â
The Mountain Lions move to 13-17 overall and are 4-6 in Conference Carolinas. The Flames move to 18-15 overall and are 5-12 in the Gulf South Conference. Â
Â
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:Â
Game 1:Â
·     The Mountain Lions got out to a great start in game one as
Jess Jaruszewski roped an RBI single up the middle to open the scoring in the top of the second. Â
·     Amber Corley came into the circle in a tough spot in the bottom of the second with the bases loaded and nobody out. She got a double play ball on a line out to third and then struck out the next batter to get out of the jam in impressive fashion. Â
·     YH tacked on two more in the third on a fielder's choice and a
Gracie Hughes single. Â
·     The Mountain Lions added another in the sixth when
Avery Fielden led off with a double and then
Mallory Clark traded places with Fielden with a double of her own. Â
·     Lee struck back in the bottom half, scoring three runs on three hits. Â
·     Young Harris went down in order in the top half of the seventh and the Flames bats stayed red hot as they went onto walk it off 5-4 on a walk, but not before they added on another three-hit inning leading up to the walk off. Â
·     Avery Fielden,
Mallory Clark, and
Jordan Morris all finished with a two-hit day in game one for YH.Â
Game 2:Â
·     The Mountain Lions once again struck first,
Gracie Hughes cracked an RBI double to right center in the top half of the first.Â
·     The flame was still lit for the Flames to begin game two as they ripped off six first inning runs. Four of those came courtesy of a Rylie Goodridge grand slam. Â
·     However, Young Harris had a response, the ladies in black combined for eight runs in the third and fourth innings. Five of those eight runs came off doubles the Mountain Lions had; doubles were the theme of game two as YH hit six of them. Two apiece for
Gracie Hughes and
Grace Young and one each for
Hannah Davis and
Shelby Duncan.Â
·     After the fifth inning, it was all knotted up at nine a piece, then in the top of the sixth,
Mallory Clark came up big time for the Mountain Lions delivering a two out, two strike RBI single to reclaim a 10-9 lead. Â
·     Gracie Hughes pitched a scoreless bottom half of the sixth and then YH put up four runs in the top of the seventh inning to give themselves some breathing room heading into the bottom half. Lee would strike for two in the bottom half, but it was not enough as the Mountain Lions went onto take this one 14-11.Â
·     Shayla Pennington finished this one a perfect 4-4 at the plate while
Shelby Duncan,
Gracie Hughes, and Isabelle Pecorilli all collected three knocks. Â
