Young Harris Bats Stay Hot in 13-3 Victory Over SWU

The Mountain Lion bats came out on fire today in addition with a solid outing from the pitching staff for a 13-3 victory over Southern Wesleyan (Mar 19th).

YOUNG HARRIS, GA. | The Mountain Lion bats came out on fire today in addition with a solid outing from the pitching staff for a 13-3 victory over Southern Wesleyan (Mar 19th). Drew Howard picked up his third win of the 2025 campaign. Eight of nine in the YH lineup recorded a hit this evening.
 
The Mountain Lions advance to 18-8 overall and advance to 9-4 in Conference Carolinas. The Warriors are 7-21 overall and drop to 6-9 in Conference Carolinas.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Setting the tone in the top of the first, Jeremy Begora went yard to put the Mountain Lions up 1-0.
  • The home run game continued for YH. In the second inning, Jeo Hernandez (1-4) and Drew Bray (2-5) both took big swings over the fence.
  • Carlos Martans singled through the left side for two RBIs followed by Drew Bray's RBI double, increasing the lead to seven in the third inning.
  • Southern Wesleyan added one run in each of the next three innings from two base hits and one solo home run. The score read 7-3 in favor of Young Harris heading into the sixth.
  • YH controlled all the action at the plate from here on. In the sixth, Luke Hatcher singled through the left side to bring in Jeremy Begora (2-3). Then, Jonny Smith (3-4) hit an electrifying three run blast to stretch the lead to 11-3.
  • Closing out the offensive action for the Mountain Lions, Jeremy Begora hit a two-run home run in the seventh. 
  • Drew Howard was granted the win after four innings pitched and four punch outs. He is 3-0 on the 2025 season.
  • The Mountain Lion pitching staff recorded eight strikeouts on the evening.
  • Mark Castle posted an impressive 3-5 at the plate with two runs.
 
UP NEXT: Young Harris returns home for a huge weekend against the #7 ranked North Greenville Trailblazers. First pitch for Friday's game (Mar 21st) is scheduled for 6PM. Saturday's (Mar 22nd) doubleheader will begin at approximately 1PM and 4PM.
