YH Track & Field Continues to Improve at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge

3/16/2025 10:25:00 PM

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. | The Young Harris College men's and women's track & field teams continued their outdoor season at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge, showcasing strong performances and significant progress for the program.

QUOTE FROM DIRECTOR OF TRACK & FIELD MATT LOGAN:
"It was a great weekend for us. In 18 months, if we are where I think we will be, we will look back on this weekend as a big building block. I'm thrilled for Piper and Cadence. They had huge PRs and all their hard work has paid off. Julia Hargrove is tough as nails and ran even splits for her first ever 10k on her way to an auto qualifier. Bryn had another qualifier and proved she's one of the best middle-distance runners in the conference. Luke Sigman ran a pair of 800 personal bests and jump-started us on the anchor leg to win our section of the 4x8. Dezzy [Austin Dezwart] has had a few setbacks in training this winter, but he's back healthy and ran a great 3k. Xander looked good in his first 3k steeple. Noah Mason had a pair of personal bests and continues to show his range. Liam and Brayden gave us solid performances in the 5k. The performance of the weekend was from Aidan Vrazel and if anyone deserved this kind of performance it was him. He took a big swing and hit it out of the park. To place 2nd in a meet like this and finish right behind a very good runner from App State gave our entire group a boost. It was a magical two days in Myrtle and it sets the stage for the rest of the year."

FINAL RESULTS:

(MEN'S RESULTS)

Aidan Vrazel delivered the performance of the weekend, finishing second in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 15:16.73, just behind a strong competitor from Appalachian State. Liam King (5th, 15:30.77) and Brayden Figgins (11th, 15:41.55) also turned in solid times.

In the 800 meters, Ryder Holland placed second with a time of 2:00.96, while Luke Sigman ran a personal best (2:02.62) and helped secure a victory for Young Harris in its section of the 4x800 relay (8:22.23).
