GREENVILLE, S.C. | Congratulations to Carl Cleveland on earning Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week honors!

The Mountain Lions have been on a tear defensively this season, ranking thirteenth in the country (DII) in field goal percentage defense. Carl Cleveland ensured the Mountain Lions stayed near the top this past week as they secured a crucial victory in their Conference Carolinas matchup. The Young Harris men's basketball team defeated Shorter University 82-73 at The Harp Recreation and Commencement Center.

Cleveland was a dominant force in the paint on Wednesday (Jan. 8) night. He pulled down 14 rebounds, 11 of which were on the defensive end, and added 20 points, shooting 50.0 percent from the floor. Cleveland also contributed three assists, leading the Mountain Lions to a hard-fought win over Shorter University.

The Mountain Lions' defensive prowess was on full display, as they managed to stifle the Shorter offense and maintain their impressive defensive rankings. With this victory, the Mountain Lions continue their strong start to the season, showcasing both their offensive and defensive capabilities.

Carl Cleveland's standout performance earned him yet another double-double, bringing his season total to 111 rebounds in just 14 games. His efforts on the court were pivotal in Young Harris' success, as they look to build on this momentum as the season progresses.
