Young Harris, GA| The Young Harris College softball team continued their home stand on Wednesday (Apr. 3) afternoon as they took on the Lee University Flames in a weekday doubleheader. The Mountain Lions split the two games with Lee, as game one was taken by Young Harris on a walk-off double, while the Flames reignited and took game two convincingly.
Young Harris moved to 19-15 overall this season and 6-4 in Conference Carolinas games. Lee University moved to 14-19 overall on the season. The Mountain Lions return to action on Friday (Apr. 5), when they take on Lees-McRae College in a DH that begins at 2pm at the YHC Softball Field.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
GAME 1:

Lee University jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a Rylie Goodridge homerun.

YHC immediately answered back and then some, putting up six runs in the bottom of the first, on walks, base knocks, doubles, and errors to claim a commanding 6-2 lead.

The Flames would add two runs in the fourth and sixth inning to tie the game at six all.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, with the game tied at six and two outs recorded; Hannah Rizzuto hit a double down the left field line, and Trinity Aycock was the hero that the Mountain Lions needed in game one, hitting the game-winning RBI double to defeat Lee University, 7-6.

Avery Fielden led YHC in RBIs with two and Javaria Smith had three for Lee University.

Kylie Ferguson started the game and went five innings, surrendering six runs, but striking out five Flames batters. Gracie Hughes came in to relieve Ferguson, and Hughes picked up her sixth win of the season, giving YHC two quality innings in the circle, with no runs allowed.
GAME 2:

Lee University jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, but Young Harris again responded quickly, scoring three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning.

The Flames added a run in the 2nd and 3rd innings, which knotted the game up at three apiece.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Grace Young launched a three-run HR to right center that put the Mountain Lions on top, 6-3.

It was all Flames from the top of the fifth and onward, as they scored ten unanswered runs to take down the Mountain Lions, 13-6.

Hailey Simco of Lee walked an impressive four times in game two, and Rylie Goodridge recorded three runs batted in for the Flames.

Olivia Tyson pitched a complete game and picked up the victory in the circle for LU.
