MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. | The Mountain Lions fell (9-8) in a 10-inning battle against conference opponent University of Mount Olive, Saturday (March 2
nd) afternoon at Mount Olive. Young Harris moves to 13-3 overall and 3-1 in Conference Carolinas, while Mount Olive improves to 9-4 and 4-0.
The Perfect Game Top-10 matchup between the #5 Trojans and #6 Mountain Lions continues Sunday, March 3
rd with a doubleheader starting at noon.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Jack Enrico (2-3) and Jace Wilson (2-4) combined for four of 10 YHC hits. Drew Bray, Steven Spell, Marco Colina, Kade Smallwood, Ethan Stamps, and Jackson Kemp added one hit apiece.
- Colina (1), Kemp (5), and Enrico (3) each homered and combined for four RBI's.
- Enrico's RBI's in the 1st and 3rd, along with Ford and Kemp's double-steal of 3rd and home in the 2nd, gave YHC a 3-1 lead going into the 4th.
- The Mountain Lions added a run in the 4th, after Wilson singled to right and scored off a Trojan fielding error.
- Colina's homer in the top-5th put YHC up 5-2, but the Trojans scored four runs in the bot-5th to take the 6-5 lead.
- Mount Olive extended their lead 8-6 in the 8th, but Young Harris capitalized in the 9th off a single, two walks, and two HBP to tie it up 8-8.
- Vito Patierno recorded the walk-off for UMO in the 10th.
- Jarrett Ford and Wilson recorded two stolen bases each.
- Zachary Murray, Dylan Beck, Ryan Heishman, Brady Calloway, and Ryan Cross, combined for 9 K's, 7 BB, and 11 hits.
