YOUNG HARRIS, GA. The Young Harris bats were on fire this weekend, as they outscored Union 30 to 5 throughout the series. The whole lineup contributed to the high-power offense, as the Mountain Lions won both games today handedly. YHC won the first game 10-1 and the second 15-2.
The Mountain Lions advance to 3-0 and the Bulldogs fall to 0-3 as the opening series comes to an end. YHC will hit the road this upcoming weekend (Feb 9th/Feb 10th) where they will take on West Georgia in a 3-game series.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
Game 1:
- Jackson Kemp homered to center field to put the first 2 runs on the board for YHC.
- Jeremy Begora (1-1) and Steven Spell (1-3) had 2 RBIs a piece.
- Travis Burnette got the win today on the mound, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 6. Ryan Cross closed out the last 4 innings, striking out 7.
- The game was close until the 8th inning where the Mountain Lions scored 6, which was unanswerable for the Bulldogs.
Game 2:
- Union went up 1-0 in the 1st inning off Mitch Sisk's home run to right center.
- YHC responded in the 3rd inning, scoring 8 total runs. Drew Bray, Jarrett Ford, Jack Enrico, Jackson Kemp, and James Basham all contributed to the RBIs this inning.
- As a pinch hitter, Jace Wilson (2-2) added on 2 runs with a single in the 6th.
- Zach Hart pitched 6 innings; he picked up 5 strikeouts and allowed one earned run.
- YHC put up 18 hits to Union's 5.
