YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Erskine College Flying Fleet ventured over to The Harp this afternoon to battle the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College. The barrage of three-point attempts from the Flying Fleet's offense proved to be no match for the Mountain Lions' top-ranking defense. The Mountain Lions improved their season record to 6-3 overall, 3-1 in Conference Carolinas, and a perfect 4-0 in home games. Erskine College fell to 3-7 overall and 1-3 in conference play.Â
QUOTING HEAD COACH JEREMY CURRIER:
"The big thing defensively was to take away the three point shot. They came in taking more three's than anyone in the country; they made eight in the first half and only three two point field goals. I thought our guys did a really good job adjusting and getting out to shooters better and I thought we played a little faster. Our pace was better and 23 assists is our season high, and I am really happy with the unselfishness. Four guys in double-figures, that is how we should play every game offensively." Continuing, "I thought they played with good spirit today, good joy, and it is good to see them celebrate each others success. I think when we play together, and we trust each other, and trust the pass, we have a special group. They want to win, they work really hard, and I am really excited with how they responded because we played poorly in the second half at Emmanuel. It speaks to the character of the guys in that locker room."
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
-
Grant Lovette, Zion Brown, Max Peeler, and Malik Shepherd all finished the game with nine points on the Erskine side.Â
-
Young Harris scored 22 points in the paint, 62 bench points, and outrebounded Erskine, 37-21, in route to a 28-point victory.Â
