Carl Cleveland and the Mountain Lions Deck the Halls with Dominant Victory at Stocking Slam Versus Voorhees

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Voorhees University Tigers journeyed over to The Harp Wednesday (Dec. 11) evening to take on the Mountain Lions of Young Harris College in the third annual Stocking Slam. Carl Cleveland scored the first 17 points for the Mountain Lions and finished with 30 points; delivering a holiday performance worth celebrating. Young Harris took down the Tigers, 81-53 in front of the home crowd. The Mountain Lions improved their season record to 7-3 overall and a perfect 5-0 in home games. Voorhees University fell to 2-6 overall. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:

  • Junior forward Carl Cleveland dropped 30 points on the Tigers, starting with a 17-point flurry of baskets within the first six minutes; Cleveland also grabbed 10 boards to complete the double-double. 

  • Karl Chavis was the second leading scorer for Young Harris, scoring 11 points (9-10 FT).  

  • Cameron Bleshoy had a huge game defensively, coming up with seven rebounds and three steals; Bleshoy added two points and three assists. 

  • The Mountain Lions' defense was stellar again, holding Voorhees to just 30% (18-60) from the field. 

  • The Tigers' sleigh ride of three-point attempts was derailed by the YHC defense, as Voorhees finished the game with just a 28% success rate from beyond the arc. 

  • On the flip side of the coin, YHC shot 42.1% from the field and went 8-for-22 from downtown. 

  • Dylan Magloire led the Tigers with eight points scored and added two assists. 

  • Young Harris scored 28 points in the paint, 40 bench points, and outrebounded Voorhees, an astonishing 48-20, in route to a 28-point victory.

The Young Harris College men's basketball team will return to action this weekend in Morrow, Georgia, to face Clayton State University (Dec. 14).
