GREENVILLE, S.C. | The Young Harris College women's volleyball team made the Conference Carolinas Volleyball Tournament for the second straight season under the control of head coach Jenny Michael. Two Mountain Lions were pivotal to the team's overall success; senior Defensive Specialist, Joha Bernis, and sophomore setter, Lyza Thigpen were named to the 2024 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball All-Conference team. 

Joha Bernis, the Mountain Lions senior DS, had a stellar season in her last year in the Enchanted Valley. Bernis, from Auburn, Georgia, strung together her best season over the course of 2024. Joha played in 22 matches, for a total of 84 sets, as the Mountain Lions main libero. Bernis recorded career highs in kills, hitting percentage, and D/S. During the 2024 season, Joha recorded 422 digs, four kills, 53 assists, and 24 service aces, for 28 points. With those numbers, Joha Bernis was named to the Conference Carolinas Second Team All-Conference squad, as a libero. Joha Bernis hit the 1,500 career digs mark the season as well, ending her college career with 1,639 digs.

Lyza Thigpen, YHC's sophomore S, set up her teammates for success all season long. Although Thigpen only played in 19 matches for 73 sets, after nursing an injury, Lyza exhibited impressive improvements on the court. Lyza recorded career highs in kills, K/S, hitting percentage, assists, A/S, D/S, total blocks, and PTS/S; all while appearing in eight fewer matches and playing 23 less sets. During Thigpen's 2024 campaign, Lyza produced 683 assists, 191 digs, 16 service aces,15 kills, 9.36 A/S, 2.62 D/S, seven blocks solo, seven block assists, 0.57 PTS/S, for 41.5 points. Amassing these statistics, Lyza Thigpen earned Third Team All-Conference honors for her elite 2024 campaign. Lyza Thigpen also reached the 1,000 (1,251) career assists mark, just two years into her college career.
