MONTEVALLO, Ala. | Mikaela Barbieri scored five goals to lead the University of Montevallo past Young Harris College 14-9 in a Gulf South Conference women's lacrosse match Saturday (April 22) afternoon.
The Falcons ended their season at 7-9 overall and to 2-4 in the GSC, while the Mountain Lions completed their season at 6-11 and 1-5.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Montevallo led 9-4 at the half.Â
- YHC got as close as 12-9 after back-to-back goals from Felisse Richard and Ruthie Mandell with 13:16 remaining in the fourth quarter, but the Mountain Lions were held scoreless the remainder of the match.
- Emily Flynt, Ally Cattoni and Morgan Lewis each scored twice for YHC, while Ella Hancock, Mandell, and Richard had one apiece.
- Flynt and Kinsley Purser each tallied an assist.
- Montevallo held a 33-32 edge in shots and 14-12 in draw controls, while the Mountain Lions held a 35-33 margin in ground balls.
- Hancock picked up four draw controls, while Mary Troyer had three.Â
- Hancock, Riley Harris and Flynt each scooped up four ground balls, while Lewis, Maddy Meyers, Troyer and Richard corralled three apiece.
- Troyer registered three caused turnovers, while Harris and Flynt had two each.
- Meyers recorded 10 saves between the pipes for the Mountain Lions.
