YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The No. 1-ranked University of North Georgia took a 7-4 Peach Belt Conference softball victory over Young Harris College Sunday (April 2) afternoon in the series finale at the YHC Softball Field.
The Nighthawks improved to 37-1 overall and to 18-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 13-25 and 5-13. Young Harris returns to action Friday (April 7) with a 1 p.m. PBC doubleheader against the University of South Carolina-Beaufort in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- North Georgia scored four runs in the third inning before the Mountain Lions cut the deficit in half as they scored twice in the fifth inning. Jess Jaruszewski had a RBI double to right-center field and Addie Heal contributed a sacrifice fly to center field.
- The Nighthawks added three runs in the sixth to open up a 7-2 lead before YHC added two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Jaruszewski added a RBI single before Amber Divine drove in a run on a ground out.
- The Mountain Lions had six hits total with Jaruszewski and Gracie Hughes had two hits each. Grace Young and Aubrey Bourrie added a hit apiece.
- Kylie Ferguson (5-12) took the loss inside the circle.
