AUGUSTA, Ga. | The Young Harris College softball team scored three times in the fifth inning en route to a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Augusta University Tuesday (April 18) afternoon.
The Mountain Lions improved to 16-26 overall and to 8-14 in the PBC, while the Jaguars fell to 17-23 and 4-18. The teams will wrap up their series with a noon doubleheader Wednesday (April 19).
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions got all the runs they would need in the fifth. Hannah Rizzuto started the rally with a one-out walk before pinch hitter Shelby Duncan stroked a two-run homer to center field to give YHC a 2-0 lead. It was her second long ball of the season.
- Young Harris added an unearned run later in the inning. Bailee Brown reached on a two-out error before Grace Young knocked her in with a double to right-center field.Â
- Kylie Ferguson (6-13) earned the complete-game win. She allowed just one run as she scattered four hits and struck out two.
- Young Harris collected five hits with Young getting two of them.
