YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Pete Fabrizio scored five goals to lead the University of Alabama in Huntsville men's lacrosse team to a 17-11 Peach Belt Conference victory over Young Harris College Saturday (April 15) afternoon at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Chargers improved to 9-5 overall and to 2-2 in the PBC, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-11 and 1-3. YHC closes out the regular season with a 1 p.m. Central time PBC match next Saturday (April 22) against the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions recognized their lone senior - Jacob Miller - prior to the match. Miller had a ground ball and caused one turnover.
- UAH opened up a 7-2 lead midway through the second quarter before YHC reeled off five unanswered goals - two from Wyatt Peek and one each from Hunter Stagg, David Traywick and Tommy Chriszt - to knot the match at 7 just 28 seconds into the third quarter.
- The Chargers reclaimed the momentum by scoring four of the next five goals to open up an 11-8 lead with 2:26 left in the third quarter.
- The Mountain Lions got within two goals at 13-11 after a Tim Blanch strike with 9:49 left in the match, but UAH scored the game's final four goals.
- Peek, Stagg, and Dylan Young led the Mountain Lions with two goals each, while Jeremy Rice, Blanch, Traywick, Colburn Connelly and Chriszt had one apiece.
- Peek, Rice and Stagg had one assist each.
- Jacob Haas won 16 face-offs and scooped up 13 ground balls. Traywick also corralled five ground balls.
- Ben Soenen led YHC with four caused turnovers, while Traywick and Dane Dompier had two each.
- Dylan Wilbur had 16 saves between the pipes for YHC.
