YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | No. 1-ranked University of North Georgia took a Peach Belt Conference softball doubleheader from Young Harris College Saturday (April 1) afternoon at the YHC Softball Field.
The Nighthawks improved to 36-1 overall and to 17-0 in the Peach Belt after winning by scores of 7-1 and 4-2, while the Mountain Lions fell to 13-24 and 5-12. The teams play the series finale at noon Sunday (April 2).
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
GAME 1
- The Mountain Lions took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Aubrey Bourrie tripled with one out to left field and scoted on Hannah Carey's single to right-center field.
- North Georgia took control of the opener with a four-run sixth inning.
- Kylie Ferguson (5-11) took the loss for the Mountain Lions.
- Carey had two of the three hits for Young Harris.
GAME 2
- Young Harris cut the deficit to 3-2 as the Mountain Lions scored twice in the fourth inning. Gracie Hughes had an RBI single to right field, while Erin Chambliss added a sacrifice fly to left field.
- The Mountain Lions had three hits in the nightcap as Grace Young collected two of them.
- Young (3-6) absorbed the loss in the circle.
