YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Rome Wallace drove in four runs as the Young Harris College baseball team registered an 11-1 win (7 innings) over Southern Wesleyan University Tuesday (March 28) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 22-10, while the Warriors fell to 12-19. YHC opens a Peach Belt Conference home three-game series with No. 8 Columbus State University Friday (March 31) with a 3 p.m. contest.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- YHC had 12 hits including two each from Ethan Underwood, Wallace and Marco Colina.
- The Mountain Lions scored in every inning but the second.
- The Mountain Lions took a 2-0 lead on a Wallace double to left in the first inning.
- YHC added a run in the third on a Wallace ground out before opening up the game with a three-run fourth inning. The Mountain Lions got a run in on a double play before Jarrett Ford and Steven Spell added back-to-back RBI doubles down the left field line.
- The Mountain Lions added two runs in the fifth before scoring three more runs in the sixth inning. Wallace added a run-scoring double in the sixth before Colina drove in two runs with a single.
- Colby Williams (2-0) earned the win for the Mountain Lions.
