YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College softball team scored nine runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for a 10-9 Peach Belt Conference victory over Georgia College & State University Friday (March 10) evening at the YHC Softball Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 11-14 overall and to 3-4 in the PBC, while the Bobcats fell to 15-7 and 3-4. The two teams wrap up the weekend series with a noon doubleheader Saturday (March 11).
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Georgia College opened up a 9-1 lead after scoring five runs in the sixth and adding three more in the seventh.
- The Mountain Lions sent 11 batters to the plate in the bottom of the seventh.
- The first seven batters in the inning reached via a hit.
- Grace Young and Shea Bayreuther had back-to-back RBI singles before Gracie Hughes cleared the bases with a double down the right field line that got the Mountain Lions within three runs at 9-6.
- Hannah Rizzuto made the score 9-8 after she smacked a two-run homer to center field. It was her third homer of the season.
- YHC tied the game at 9 as Amber Divine scored on a wild pitch.
- Aubrey Bourrie sent the crowd home happy as she single to left-center field to score Bailee Brown, who reached base after a walk.
- The Mountain Lions had 15 hits, led by Brown, Bourrie and Hannah Carey who had three hits apiece. Hughes added two hits.
- Hughes added a solo homer - her third of the season - in the fourth inning.
- Kaliyah Smith (1-1) earned the win in relief.
