YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Lenny Pradia scored 18 of his game-high 23 points as Young Harris College overcame an eight-point deficit to rally for a 70-64 Peach Belt Conference men's basketball victory over Columbus State University Wednesday (Feb. 8) evening at the Harp Recreation & Commencement Center.
The Mountain Lions won their fourth game in a row as they improved to a program-best 18-4 overall and to 9-4 in the Peach Belt, while the Cougars fell to 13-10 and 6-7. YHC returns to action Saturday (Feb. 11) when they face No. 11 Augusta University in a 3:30 p.m. PBC game in Augusta, Georgia.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The game saw 11 lead changed and six ties.Â
- Columbus State opened up a 33-25 lead at the half as they used an 11-3 run over the final six minutes of the first half.
- YHC used a 12-1 run over a three-minute stretch in the early stages of the second half to take a 43-38 lead on a Pradia pull up jumper with 13:57 to play. Pradia scored seven points during the run.
- Columbus State battled back to take a 58-55 lead after two free throws by Wisdom Uboh with 5:23 to go, but the Mountain Lions responded with by scoring the next seven points to regain the lead at 62-58 after two Pradia free throws with 2:41 remaining.
- The closest the Cougars would get the rest of the way was two points (63-61), but Pradia thwarted any chance of a CSU comeback as he drained an old-fashioned three-point play to put the Mountain Lions back up by five (66-61) with 36 seconds to go.
- Josh Petteno finished with 10 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Karl Chavis nearly had a double double with nine points and eight rebounds, while Nate Dunlop had nine points and seven rebounds.
- YHC outrebounded Columbus State 44-36 on the glass.
