YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | Lenny Pradia led four Young Harris College players in double figures as the Mountain Lions defeated Clayton State University 75-57 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday (Feb. 4) afternoon at the Harp Recreation & Commencement Center.
The Mountain Lions improved to 17-4 overall and improved to 8-4 in the Peach Belt, while the Lakers fell to 2-18 overall and remained winless in 11 tries in the PBC. Young Harris completes its three-game homestand Wednesday (Feb. 8) with a 7:30 p.m. PBC game against Columbus State University.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Young Harris led for nearly 38 minutes in the game.
- The Mountain Lions took the lead for good with a 7-0 run that gave YHC a 14-8 lead after a hook shot by Kennedy Willis with 14:42 left in the first half.
- YHC extended its lead to 16 points (32-16) after a Pradia layup with 4:46 left in the half.
- Clayton State trailed 40-31 at the half and got as close as six points (46-40) with just under 16 minutes in the game.
- Young Harris thwarted the Laker rally with a 9-0 run to pushed the lead back out to 17 points (61-44) on two Pradia free throws with 7:51 to go.
- The Mountain Lions took their largest lead - 22 points (73-51) - on a Eden Davis pull-up jumper with 2:00 left.
- YHC shot 56 percent (28-of-50) from the field, while Clayton State was limited to 30.9 percent (17-55).
- Karl Chavis, who went 6-of-6 from the field, and Josh Petteno added 15 points, while David tallied 12.Â
- Chavis added three assists and three steals, while Willis and Turahn Thompson each pulled down six rebounds. Petteno also had five rebounds.
