AIKEN, S.C. | The Young Harris College softball team picked up a 5-1 decision in their Peach Belt Conference series against the University of South Carolina-Aiken Sunday (Feb. 26) afternoonn at J.H. Satcher Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 6-11 overall and to 1-2 in the Peach Belt, while the Pacers slipped to 5-12 and 2-1. YHC returns to action Wednesday (March 1) with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Emmanuel (Ga.) College at the YHC Softball Field.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- The Mountain Lions pieced together three singles from Grace Young, Trinity Aycock and Shea Bayreuther to take a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- Young doubled the YHC lead in the second on her sacrifice fly to right field.
- The Mountain Lions added two more runs in the third on RBI singles from Amber Divine and Aubrey Bourrie.
- Bourrie drove in the final run on a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning that scored Erin Chambliss, who had reached on a double.
- Aycock, Chambliss and Bayreuther each had two hits as the Mountain Lions collected 10.
- Teresa Dixon (2-1) earned the win with 4.1 scoreless innings of relief. She scattered five hits and struck out one.
