YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | No. 30 Young Harris College opened up Peach Belt Conference baseball action with a sweep of a doubleheader against Augusta University Saturday (Feb. 18) afternoon at Zell B. Miller Field.
The Mountain Lions improved to 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the PBC after wins of 6-2 and 9-5 against the Jaguars, who fell to 1-6 and 0-2. The teams wrap up their three-game series with the 1 p.m. finale Sunday (Feb. 19).
INSIDE THE BOXSCORES:
GAME 1
	- YHC jumped out to a 3-0 after three innings. Jeremy Begora drove in a run in the second on an infield single. The Mountain Lions added two runs in the third on a pair of Augusta miscues.
- After Augusta got a run back in the fourth, the Mountain Lions posted three runs in the fifth. Ethan Stamps got it started on a sacrifice fly and Ethan Underwood added a run-scoring single to right. Underwood later scored on a wild pitch.
- Nate Lamb (2-0) earned the win as he scattered four hits and didn't allow an earned run over eight innings. He also registered eight strikeouts.
- Drew Bray and Underwood had two hits each for YHC.
GAME 2
	- After spotting the Jaguars a four-spot in the top of the first, the Mountain Lions rallied in the nightcap for the sweep.
- The Mountain Lions posted a run on a RBI single to right field in the second by Rome Wallace.
- Young Harris retook the lead at 5-4 with four runs in the seventh.  Pinch hitter Jackson Kemp doubled in the first run before Marco Colina, Bray and Jarrett Ford followed by driving in a run each.
- The Mountain Lions added four insurance runs in the eighth as Jayden Carbonell-Smith's grand slam to left gave YHC a 9-4 lead. It was his first career hit.
- Steven Spell and Wallace each finished with three hits as YHC collected 13 hits. Bray and Ford added two hits apiece.
- Cole Edwards (1-0) earned the win with three innings of relief. He struck out three as he didn't allow an earned run.
- Starter Zach Murray struck out seven in six innings.
