COLUMBUS, Ga. | Robert Brooks drove in five runs to lead No. 2-ranked Columbus State University past Young Harris College 14-5 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Saturday (March 26) afternoon at Burger King Stadium at Ragsdale Field.
The Cougars improved to 25-4 overall and to 10-1 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 19-9 and 7-4. The teams will face each other Sunday (March 27) in the series finale at 1 p.m.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Jackson Jones, who had two of the seven hits for the Mountain Lions, drove in three runs. He had a two-run single in the third inning and added a leadoff homer to right field in the sixth. It was his fifth long ball of the season.
- Steven Spell added an RBI single to right field in the eighth inning.
- Kyle Ayers, Brandon Jolliff, Mark Castle and Logan Worley each had a hit for Young Harris.
- The teams combined to strand 24 runners, including 11 by the Mountain Lions.
- The seven Young Harris pitchers issued 15 walks.
- Nate Lamb (3-3) took the loss as he allowed seven runs and struck out seven in five innings.
