YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College softball team dropped two games to Lee University Wednesday (March 2) afternoon at the YHC Softball Field.
The Flames took game one 5-2 and earned the sweep with a 10-1 victory in five innings in game two.
Young Harris fell to 6-7, while Lee improved to 7-9. The Mountain Lions are back in action Saturday (March 5) when they open up Peach Belt Conference play with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Georgia Southwestern State University at the YHC Softball Field.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
GAME 1
- The game was scoreless until the sixth when Lee's Annalyn Ormsby roped a two-run home run over right-center field. Taylor De Adder added a three-run shot for the Flames an inning later.
- Young Harris got two runs back in the seventh as Erin Chambliss and Morgan Curley each doubled in the inning, Kenzie Chappell had an RBI ground out, while Curley drove in the other run.
- Grace Young led Young Harris with two hits while Curley, Chambliss, and Trellis Whaley each had one.
- Jill Dixon (2-3) recorded the loss for YHC. Dixon pitched 5.1 innings, allowed two runs on three hits and struck out three.
GAME 2:
- Lee used a nine-run third inning to take control of the nightcap.
- Shea Bayreuther scored the lone Young Harris run in the bottom of the fifth with a long ball over the right field fence. It was her second homer of the season.
- Sam Davis (2-2) picked up the loss from Young Harris.
