MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The Young Harris College softball team gained a 2-1 Peach Belt Conference victory over Georgia College in the first game of the three-game series Saturday (March 12) afternoon at the Peeler Complex.
Young Harris improved to 9-9 overall and 2-2 in the PBC, while Georgia College fell to 8-14 and to 0-4. The Mountain Lions and the Bobcats conclude the series Sunday (March 13) with a noon doubleheader.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Shea Bayreuther and Trellis Whaley scored the two YHC runs.
- Young Harris scored its first run in the first inning after Whaley drew a bases loaded walk that scored Jordan Campagnolo.
- Beyreuther hit a solo home run in the fourth to give the Mountain Lions a 2-1 lead. It was her third long ball of the season
- Jill Dixon (4-4) earned the win for YHC. Dixon pitched seven innings, allowing six hits and striking out 11.
- Georgia College scored its only run of the game in the first inning off a wild pitch.
- YHC totaled four hits including one each from Bayreuther, Campagnolo, Grace Young, and Hannah Miller.
