HARROGATE, Tenn. | The Young Harris College softball team fell to No. 13 Lincoln Memorial University 3-0 and 12-7 in Sunday (Feb. 6) afternoons doubleheader at Dorothy Neely Field.
The Railsplitters improved to 2-0, while the Mountain Lions fall to 0-2. Young Harris travels to Albertville, Alabama, for the Charger Chillout Friday (Feb. 11). YHC opens up the three-day tournament with a noon Central time game against Kentucky Wesleyan University.Â
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
GAME 1:
- The Railsplitters got all the runs they would need in the bottom of the first off a lead off triple and three back-to-back singles.Â
- Jill Dixon (0-1) got the loss for the Mountain Lions, Dixon threw six scoreless innings and struck out 4-of-30 batters faced.Â
- Emma Frost (1-0)Â threw a no-hitter and struck out 11. She only allowed one runner to reach base.
- Morgan Curley picked up the lone walk for Young Harris.
GAME 2:
- Trellis Whaley had 2 RBI while Curley, Ashley Autouri, Grace Young, and Erin Chambliss each had one for Young Harris.Â
- Autouri was 2-4 in game two with two doubles.
- The Mountain Lions took the lead 2-1 in the top of the third inning. Jordan Campagnolo led off the inning with a hit by pitch, Kenzie Chappell drove a single to left field and Campagnolo would come around to score on an LMU error.
- The Mountain Lions scored the remainder of their runs in the fifth and sixth innings.Â
- Autouri and Young had back-to-back doubles in the fifth while Shea Bayrether, Campagnolo, and Chambliss each recorded singles in the sixth to give the Mountain Lions their final runs of the game.Â
- Sam Davis (0-1) picked up the loss for Young Harris.
