Mountain Lions run win streak to four with two victories at Charger Chillout

ALBERTVILLE, Ala. | The Young Harris College softball team ran their win streak to four as the Mountain Lions picked up two victories at the Charger Chilloout Saturday (Feb. 12) afternoon at Sand Mountain Park.

Young Harris opened the day with a 6-1 victory over Mississippi College before registering an 8-2 win over the University of West Alabama.

The Mountain Lions improved to 4-2 and will close out the tournament with games against Christian Brothers University (10 a.m. Central time) and Delta State University (12:30 p.m.)

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:

Mississippi College
  • Jill Dixon (2-1) earned the complete-game win as she allowed two hits and struck out four.
  • The Mountain Lions took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Trinity Aycock had an RBI single down the right field line.
  • YHC added four more runs in the third. Erin Chambliss laced a two-run single to center and Trellis Whaley added a run-scoring double to center field.
West Alabama
  • Sam Davis (1-1) struck out eight and allowed just two hits in the complete-game win.
  • YHC took a 2-0 lead in the first. Morgan Curley had a RBI double to center as the Mountain Lions took advantage of two West Alabama errors.
  • After the Tigers tied the game at 2 in the fourth inning, the Mountain Lions took control with a four-run fifth. Shea Bayreuther broke the tie with a bases-loaded walk. Jordan Campagnolo added a bases-loaded walk of her own, while Aycock and Kenzie Chappell had run-scoring ground outs.
  • Kylie Ferguson had a two-run single in the seventh.
  • Grace Young had two hits for the Mountain Lions.
