Young Harris continues its best-ever start at 10-0 with 63-51 win at Mars Hill

MARS HILL, N.C. | Paul Hosey's career-high 15 points helped the Young Harris College men's basketball team record a 63-51 non-conference victory over Mars Hill University Saturday (Dec. 17) afternoon at Stanford Arena.

The Mountain Lions are off to their best-ever start in the program as they improved to 10-0. The previous best start in the NCAA era after 10 games was 8-2 at the start of the 2013-14 campaign. The Lions fell to 2-7. Young Harris now breaks for the holidays and will return to the Harp Recreation & Commencement Center Dec. 31 at 4 p.m. when they host the University of Virginia's College at Wise.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • After the game was tied at 30 at the half, the Mountain Lions used a 12-4 run to open the second 20 minutes to take a 42-34 lead on a three-pointer from Hosey with 16:08 to play. The sophomore forward hit 6-of-8 attempts from the field, including 3-of-4 from long distance.
  • The Lions got as close as four points (46-42), but the Mountain Lions opened up a nine-point advantage (51-42) after Lenny Pradia nailed a three-pointer with 8:28 to go.
  • Pradia extended the YHC lead out to 12 points (60-48) with 63 seconds remaining as Pradia hit two free throws. Pradia finished with 11 points and he dished out six assists. The Mountain Lions went 11-of-14 from the charity stripe.
  • Nate Dunlop and Kennedy Willis also finished in double figures with 10, while Karl Chavis had eight.
  • The Mountain Lions scored 16 points off 17 MHU turnovers.
