Chavis' late free throw seals Young Harris' win over Emmanuel 69-68

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. | Karl Chavis sank a free throw with three seconds remaining to give Young Harris College a 69-68 non-conference men's basketball victory over Emmanuel (Ga.) College Saturday afternoon at the Shaw Athletic Center.

The Mountain Lions are off to a 2-0 start, while the Lions slipped to 1-1. Young Harris returns to the road Wednesday (Nov. 16) when they travel to Mars Hill University for a 7 p.m. contest in Mars Hill, North Carolina.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • YHC opened up a 68-60 lead after Lenny Pradia sank two free throws with 2:55 remaining.
  • The Lions battled back to knot the game at 68 on a Tavarus Webb layup with 73 seconds left in the contest.
  • Both team failed to take a lead on their next possessions, until Chavis was fouled shooting with three seconds to play. Chavis missed the first free throw, but sank the second to secure the win. Chavis went 3-of-4 from the charity stripe.
  • Chavis recorded a double double as he grabbed 12 points and scored 11 points.
  • Nate Dunlop was the leading scorer for the Mountain Lions with 17 points. Dunlop went 7-of-12 from the field.
  • Paul Hosey dropped a career-high 14 points on 6-of-8 shooting.
  • YHC outscored Emmanuel 36-22 in the paint. The Mountain Lions also recorded seven blocked shots, with Chavis having three and Dunlop had two more. As a team, Young Harris went 12-of-16 from the free throw line.
