Bearcats shut out Young Harris 2-0

GREENWOOD, S.C. | Lander University scored twice in a seven-minute span late in its Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match as they defeated Young Harris College 2-0 Wednesday (Oct. 12) evening at Van Taylor Stadium.

The Bearcats improved to 4-4-5 overall and to 2-2-3 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-9-0 and 3-5-0. YHC returns to the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Saturday (Oct. 15) for a 1 p.m. PBC match against Clayton State University. The Mountain Lions will honor their seven seniors prior to the match.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • The match started 90 minutes late due to lightning and rain.
  • Mary Moosbrugger scored Lander's first goal at the 70:31 mark before Claire Regnault added an insurance goal seven minutes later.
  • Lander outshot Young Harris 12-4, but only 4-2 on goal. Alexis Scarpinato had two shots for the Mountain Lions, while Cassidy Campbell and Thea Juul had one apiece.
  • Mckenna Peaster had two saves in goal for the Mountain Lions.
