YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College women's soccer team opened its 2026 season with a 2-0 loss to Carson-Newman University Thursday (Aug. 27) evening at the YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field.
The Eagles improved to 1-0-0 while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-1-0 to start the season. Young Harris will travel to Dahlonega, Georgia Sunday (Aug. 30) for its first road match of the season to face the University of North Georgia. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
Carson-Newman scored both of its goals in the first half, taking the lead in the 19
th minute on a goal from Sifa Morgan before Olivia Shannon extended the advantage to 2-0 in the 24
th minute.
Young Harris finished with eight shots, including four on goal.
Faith Niebrugge led the Mountain Lions with three shot attempts while
Giselle Rosa,
Maggie Vena and
Betsy Bu each recorded a shot on goal.
Goalkeeper
Emily Jantz recorded nine saves in the net for Young Harris.
