YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. | The Young Harris College men's basketball team fell to the University of North Georgia 88-70 in Wednesday (Jan. 26) night's Peach Belt Conference contest at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center.
The Nighthawks improved to 12-5 overall and 5-4 in the Peach Belt, while the Mountain Lions fell to 3-16 and 0-10. Young Harris returns to action Saturday (Jan. 29) with a 3:30 p.m. PBC tip off against Georgia Southwestern State University at home.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
- Lenny Pradia led Young Harris with 19 points, four assists and two rebounds.
- Carl Cleveland, Karl Chavis, and Josh Petteno recorded 11 points each. Cleveland had seven rebounds, while Chavis grabbed eight.
- Young Harris had their biggest lead of the night -12 points (19-7) - with 11:13 remaining in the first half after Cleveland sunk a free throw.
- Malik Hardy led the Nighthawks with 18 total points and six rebounds.
- The Nighthawks shot 55.9 percent (33-of-59) from the field, while the Mountain Lions shot 44.4 percent (24-of-54).
- Petteno tied the score up at 49 after a long three-point jumper with just over 12 minutes remaining in the second half.
- Kody Shubert and Hardy scored a combined 28 of the 58 Nighthawks points in the second half.
- North Georgia outrebounded Young Harris 38-21 and outscored the Mountain Lions 48-32 in the paint.
