Cleveland leads Mountain Lions in 89-75 loss to Cougars

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.| The Young Harris College men's basketball team fell to Columbus State University 89-75 in a Peach Belt Conference contest  Wednesday (Jan. 12) evening at the YHC Recreation and Fitness Center. 

Young Harris fell to 3-11 overall and 0-5 in the Peach Belt, while Columbus State improved to 11-3 and 3-2. The Mountain Lions return to action Saturday (Jan. 15) with a 3:30 p.m. PBC tip off against Flagler College at home.

INSIDE THE BOXSCORE:
  • Carl Cleveland recorded a double double in the game with 27 points - including four three-pointers -  and 10 rebounds. Cleveland was 11-of-18 from the field.
  • Karl Chavis had 20 points for the Mountain Lions and dished out three assists. Chavis gave the Mountain Lions their biggest lead of the night (16-11) in the first half, after a he sank a three pointer at the 13:46 mark..
  • Lederrius Jones tied it up at 16 after a made free throw at the 13:04 mark.
  • The Cougars had their biggest lead of the night - 26 points - with just over 15 minutes remaining in the second half after a Roman Son free throw.
  • Hunter Preston led Columbus State with 29 points.
  • The Cougars outrebounded the Mountain Lions 37-30, and led 30-26 in points in the paint. 
  • As a team Young Harris was 14-of-20 at the free-throw line.
